Abstract

Horsegram (Dollchos biflorus L), a leguminous seed of high protein content with a remarkable level of lysine and minerals, has been identified as one of the potential food sources by the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. Relative biochemical composition of some local varieties of horsegram in Madhya Pradesh has recently been reported4 and are found to contain reasonably good amount of protein (21-23%), minerals and essential amino acids.
