Abstract

Coronary heart disease has become one of the major leading causes of morbidity and mortality in India. Biomedical research all over the world is directed towards the prevention of heart disease at an early stage itself. Attempts are being made to define living habits that might be associated with an increased risk. One of them is successive saturated fat consumption. Studies evaluating the effect of oils rich in mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids are limited. This study is an effort to evaluate the effect of unsaturated fatty acids on the blood lipid profile of hyperlipidemics.
