Maternal and Infant Feeding Practices of 'Mishimi' Women in Lohit District of Arunachal Pradesh

Abstract

One of the most memorable occasions for any family is the birth of a child. The intimate relationship between the physical and psychological well-being of a mother and her child has always been obvious. This link had been affirmed for generations by traditional norms prescribing dietary practices during pregnancy and lactation, specifying rituals and practices for child birth and the immediate post partum period and defining complex rituals and folk knowledge applied to early infant care and child rearing.
