Abstract

Micronutrients in cancer prevention: Cancer results from interaction of genetic susceptibility and environmental exposures. Nutrients influence the growth and development of the fetus and therefore play a role in cancer prevention from then on. Several nutrient-gene interactions may sow the seeds of cancer many years before it actually happens. Periconceptual vitamin use was shown to protect against childhood cancer.
