Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is one of the major causes of coronary heart diseases in humans. The total cholesterol level is directly related to the development of coronary heart disease. Blood cholesterol reduction can be achieved by dietary modification as well as by drugs. Drugs are less preferred due to their side effects and are prescribed only in treating severe cases. Hence, dietary modifications are the first in the line of treating hypercholesterolemia.
