Abstract

India has the highest concentration of tribes in the world and Madhya Pradesh is inhabited with a large number of tribal groups. Most of these tribal communities suffer from chronic nutritional deficiencies. Due to poor resource base these people depend on ethnic foods, particularly based on locally produced cereals, which are the cheapest, widely available source of energy.
