Abstract

"Prison includes any place which has been declared by the State Government by general or special order to be a subsidary jail". Imprisonment imposes restriction and deprives prisoners of individual liberty and comforts of a free life. But what it simply cannot do is to deprive them of the basic necessities that preserve human life, that is food, clothes and shelter, out of which food is undoubtedly the most important factor.
