Abstract

Meal pattern consists of breakfast, lunch, evening tea and snacks and dinner. Meal frequency depends on the number of times (one/two/three/four) the meals are taken and the food habits of people in the particular region of the country. Earlier, diet surveys conducted among families or individuals have taken into consideration both meal pattern and frequency in arriving at total day's Intake. Traditionally lunch and dinner are considered to be heavy meals, while breakfast and evening tea and snacks are light meals.
