Abstract

Numerous supplementary mass feeding programmes are sponsored by Central and State Governments and Voluntary Agencies to root out malnutrition among children. Among those the Special Nutrition Programme, is hundred per cent centrally sponsored scheme and is in force in urban slums to support the home diet with bread fortified with lysine and vitamins and is under the control of Social Welfare Department.
