Abstract

Practice of fertilizing the soil with high concentration of nitrogen may cause the accumulation of more nitrate in plants than normal under abnormal conditions. Such plants may prove toxic when fed to livestock. Iodine uptake by the thyroid glands has been reported in rat, human subject and the cow and its maximum uptake following injection as a function of time differs in different species.
