Abstract

The productivity of oilseeds has not increased at the same pace as it has happened in cereals. Development and large scale cultivation of input-responsive dwarf high yielding varieties and hybrids not only favours crop growth but is also conducive for the rank growth of weeds. Emphasis on cereals and a few commercial crops has driven oilseeds to less productive ecosystems.
