Abstract

Calcium Oxide (CaO) has an individual catalystic and optical properties which can be synthesizedsuccessfully by green synthesis. The present study is to synthesize CaO nanoparticles from the leaf extracts of Cymbopogon citratus, commonly known as lemon grass. This method makes use of contamination free chemicals and promote the use of non-toxic substances, such as water and plant extract. The observation on Morphology of the particles of lemon grass powder was studied through Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The X-ray diffraction studies revealed the Polycrystalline nature of CaO nanoparticles. The optical and functional studies of the CaO nanoparticles was analyzed using UV- Vis, FTIR studies. The photocatalytic and Anti-Bacterial activity of calcium oxide nanoparticles is also analyzed. The composition of elements was studied by using EDAX.
