Higher alkyl derivatives of polysaccharide guaran are easily synthesised by reaction of alkyl-glycidyl ether and the polysaccharide. The D. S. is varied from the ratio of the reactants and the products can be tailor made to have a balance of hydrophilic-hydrophobic character. These polymeric surfacts show good compatibility to organic solvents and find many comniercial applications.Downloads
