Abstract

Geographically Bellandur lake (12° 56' 15'' N and 77° 40' 12'' E) is located in one of the three main valleys in the southeast part of Bangalore city and forms a part of Ponnaiyar river catchment. Water from this lake flows to Varthur lake and ultimately joins the Pennar river. It is the largest lake in Bengaluru city, which spreads over a huge area of 361.3 ha with an average depth of 5 m and has a catchment area of 148 sq km.
