Abstract

The challenge in the prevention of PEM is to ensure that preschool children get their habitual cereal legume vegetable, foods in amounts adequate to meet their calorie and protein needs. There is a need for developing weaning foods that would at least combine some of the desired characteristics of high nutrient density, low bulk property, low cost and locally available in nature. There are a number of reports available on protein supplements of high nutritive value prepared by suitable blending of two or more vegetable proteins.
