Abstract

It was during the early decades of this century that Sir Robert McCarrison, father of nutrition research in India, postulated that faulty diet was the basis of several health problems of the country prevailing at that time. This has been amply confirmed by subsequent studies over the past seven decades and this axiom is as true today as it was at his time.
