Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism and the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared India as the "Diabetic capital of the world". The factors like heredity, age, diet, sex, socioeconomic status, hypertension, various stresses and ethnicity, are involved in the etiology of Type 2 diabetes.
