Abstract

Autism, archetype of the Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD), is a neurological disorder characterized by socially aloof behaviour and impairment of language and social interaction. It is a complex pervasive developmental disorder that involves the functioning of brain. The prevalence of autism has surged in recent years. Autism manifests in the first three years of life and persists into adulthood. Most cases emerge before the age of two and a half and few are diagnosed after the age of five.
