Abstract

Spices derived from roots, barks, buds and fruits of plants have been used to preserve food, enhance their flavour and as remedies for a long list of ailments. Both herbs and spices referred as herbal remedies are excellent antioxidants, which work to neutralize the attack by free radicals against the body. Spices contain phytonutrients, which may prevent the mutation of healthy cells into cancerous cells.
