Abstract

It is well known that in treatment of diabetes mellitus diet therapy plays an important role. In recent years several studies indicate that fibre has a significant influence on the postprandial blood glucose levels, A decrease in serum glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL cholesterol and an increase in HDL cholesterol was observed in subjects eating a high fibre (40g/day) diet.
