Abstract

Dietary fibre (D.F) which resists digestion by the digestive enzymes in the gastro - intestinal tract, comprises a heterogenous group of carbohydrates such as cellulose, hemicellulose, mucilages, pectins and gums and the non-carbohydrate polymer viz., lignin.
