Abstract

This investigation was the first in a series to evaluate the protein quality of sunflower meal either alone or in combination with locally available cereals and pulses, namely, maize and roasted Bengal gram dhal, with or without small amounts of skim milk powder through rat assays. The criteria used for the evaluation of protein quality of mixtures were weight gain, food and protein intake, PER, hepatic weight and hepatic nitrogen.
