Abstract

There has been much development in the knowledge of nutrition of both man and livestock. Concurrently, research work has been carried out to know the deleterious effects resulting from the consumption of food articles contaminated with fungi and bacteria. The consumption of food-stuffs contaminated with these, with the consequent production of metabolites which are toxic, has resulted in grave consequences to both man and livestock. Of special significance is the aflatoxin produced by the fungi on feed-stuffs.
