Abstract

The nutrient requirements of human beings vary with race type of diet body size and age. The recommended daily dietary allowances of energy, protein, fat, minerals and vitamins recommended for Indians are based on survey work and the nutrient balance studies conducted in western countries. No systematic nutrient balance studies have been reported on human beings under Indian conditions. The present study was, therefore, planned to estimate energy requirements of men doing sedentary work based on complete energy, balances.
