Abstract

Protein-calorie malnutrition affecting young growing children between the ages of one and five years is one of the important nutrition problems in our country to-day. Recent carefully conducted diet surveys, in several parts of the country, involving large numbers of pre-school children, have shown that the protein intake in the dietaries of the children are adequate, even after making allowances for the lower biological value of the vegetable protein which they consume.
