Ocean Bottom Magnetometric Survey in the Andaman Sea -The Technique and Instrumentation

Abstract

A geophysical survey was conducted in the Andaman Sea around Narcondam and Barren islands in 1989 deploying Ocean Bottom Magnetometers. The pur­ pose was to study the magnetic variations around the two islands in regard to their dormant valconic status. This paper deals with the detail instrumentation aspects, the process of deployment and recovery and its associated hazards.
