POLYMERS : THE MODERN MATERIALS

Abstract

Since the dawn of human civilization man has alwas been in the search of newer and newer types of materials with tailor-made physical, thermal, mechanical, electrical, chemical and other properties. Polymer is one such type. It is a macro- molecule—a giant molecule compared to the heaviest molecule known. Different types of rubbers, plastics and fibres— that are becoming more and more popular, in our daily life and in industrial scene as well, because of their economy, durability and aestheties—all belong to polymer.
