Abstract

Nickel is a chemical element with symbol Ni and atomic number 28. It is a silvery-white lustrous metal with a slight golden tinge. Nickel belongs to the transition metals and is hard and ductile. Ni is best suitable for modifications in temperatures, tools, pressures, rates, etc., wrought nickel is amenable to most of the fabrication processes used for mild steel. It can be hot-formed (forged, rolled, bent, extruded); cold-formed (sheared, punched, spun, deep drawn); machined with high-speed steel and carbide tools; and ground, polished and buffed.
